During the first semester students do some research work to identify a problem, formulate it, recognize its known solutions and choose appropriate tools and methods to solve it. Consultations with supervisor and literature investigations are basic approaches during this phase of the project. Estimated time of student involvement is approximately 70 hours.

Cel przedmiotu:
Senior Design Project is a two-part, two-semester course, which is aimed to prepare students to their professional work. The result of Senior Design Project is a capstone project and a B.Sc. diploma dissertation.
Treści kształcenia:
Each student is expected to solve a typical engineering task using appropriate tools and methods. The student should demonstrate engineering skills and knowledge acquired during the studies. In the first semester emphasis is placed on project identification, basic analysis and/or appropriate prototyping, production of a feasibility study. State-of-the art in technical aspects of design should be reflected by choice of tools and methodologies applied for a solution. Senior projects can be defined and mentored in collaboration with an industrial partner. This approach is encouraged, because it simulates the environment in which a student will shortly be operating.
Metody oceny:
The student is obliged to submit a report from his/her work and the other results by the end of semester. The project is evaluated by a supervisor, who takes into account: • the quality and depth of understanding of the technical and scientific foundations of the project, • the analysis and understanding of how the design evolved to satisfy the goals of the project, • correctness of selection tools and engineering methodologies, • progress in solving the problem, • engagement of the student. The final mark is one from the set 5.0, 4.5, 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.0 (failure requiring repeating the course).
